Ted Smith

Ted is from Placerville, California, and has been a Certified National Judge at Weiser.  He won the California State Flat-Pick Championship several times and won National Guitar Accompanist two-times.  He finished third place in fiddle and mandolin at Winfield, Kansas, and twice finished second at the Kerrville, Texas international mandolin competition.

During his professional career as a musician, singer and songwriter, Ted has played guitar, mandolin and fiddle with the Oak River Boys, Clear Creek with Jana Jae, South Loomis Quickstep, California Quickstep, Lefty Spurge, and Steve Kaufman.  He has also performed with Elvin Bishop, Byron Berline, Doug Dillard, Junior Daugherty, Justin Bishop and Mark O’Connor.  Ted’s music can be heard on around twenty-five record albums, including five by South Loomis Quickstep and one by Mark O’Connor.  He has done videos for Coors Beer, Miller Beer and Wells Fargo Bank and has several radio and TV jingles to his credit.
